Powered by a 5.4L Triton® SOHC V8 that produces 300 hp and 365 lb.-ft. of torque, the adventurous side of this luxury SUV can be seen but not heard. This advanced engine employs three-valve-per-cylinder architecture and electronic throttle control to ensure that power is on-demand and available at all times.

A firm foundation contributes greatly to the Navigator’s impressive ride and smooth handling characteristics. Featuring a tube-through-tube design, its stiff frame works in tandem with updated monotube shocks at all four corners and an all-new multilink Independent Rear Suspension (IRS). Since the IRS allows each rear wheel to react independently, Navigator delivers a refined ride with outstanding handling while easily maintaining its composure over bumpy cobblestone and uneven road surfaces.

Navigator’s standard AdvanceTrac® with first-in-class RSC® (Roll Stability Control) is an electronic stability enhancement system that actually measures what other systems ignore or estimate. In addition to AdvanceTrac’s Anti-lock Brake System, traction control and yaw control, RSC® features a vehicle-roll motion sensor to directly measure the vehicle’s roll-rate at least 100 times every second — which helps determine when and how the system will apply individual brakes and modify engine power to help keep all four wheels firmly planted.

The Navigator’s standard Class III/IV trailer tow package comes complete with a heavy duty radiator and transmission oil cooler allowing a properly equipped Navigator to tow a load of up to 3992 kg (8800 lbs.) A wide-ratio 6-speed automatic transmission makes the perfect mate for the V-8, improving shift quality through the transmission’s small steps between gears.*

For braking as graceful as the acceleration, the Navigator comes with standard 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS and electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) technology. EBD uses sensors to automatically optimize front and rear brake pressures to reduce stopping distances.

The Personal Safety System™ utilizes a network of sensors to assess a number of factors including whether the front passenger seat is occupied or not, the position of the drivers’ seat and severity of the impact to determine the level of deployment of the dual stage air bags.

The Navigator features AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control. AdvanceTrac® constantly monitors vehicle response to steering input and then automatically makes braking and throttle adjustments to help optimize handling under adverse driving conditions. Equally as impressive, Roll Stability Control employs gyroscopic sensors to help reduce the likelihood of a rollover event.

The Safety Canopy™ System features side-curtain air bags that deploy from the headliner above the side doors in certain side-impact events.
